Party Fundraiser

THANK YOU to all my friends and Family for your help at this event! We were able to raise some money to help the documentary and even give $ towards the orphans directly.

I will be going for amonth to South Africa Swaziland to participate in nurturing and caring for young African children. The town of Bulembu is located in Swaziland Africa where currently statistics show that more than half of the people with HIV infection are below the age of 25 and 60% of the new infections that occur are within the 15-24 years age group. The UNAIDS HIV/AIDS World Report 2008 estimates that there are 14 million AIDS orphans in the world. These statistics reveal the urgency with which HIV/AIDS issues need to be addressed among children.

My Story

Bringing Community together to support and raise money for African Orphanage and Aids Documentary

Swaziland is a country in Southern Africa, bordered to the north, south, and west by South Africa and to the east by Mozambique.  According to recent statistics from www.usaid.gov/our_work/global_health/aids/  “With an estimated adult prevalence of 25.9 percent, based on recent data from the 2006–2007 Demographic and Health Survey, Swaziland has the world’s most severe HIV/AIDS epidemic, which poses a serious challenge to the country’s economic development.”

Hallie Greene  grew up locally in the Santa Cruz mountains after attending Film School in Boston, Europe and L.A. she has come back to Boulder Creek as a photographer/videographer, children’s dance instructor as well as other community based projects. Hallie has connected with the UMVIM (United Methodist Volunteers in Mission) to travel, give care and aid to children in Bulembu Swaziland.

Bulembu started as a mining town open from 1938- 2001 but was quickly abandoned in 2001. Known for its heart and vision, Bulembu has a vision to rebuild itself and create a totally self-sustaining community, restoring health, education, commerce and providing care for the children. Hallie has formed a party fundraiser involving African Dance, African Singing, Zumba Dance, children’s fun room, face painting, and silent auction to help make her dream of documenting and caring for the children in Bulembu Africa. The event is for all ages and welcomes everyone!
